MERRIMACK, N.H. -- Police are investigating a death that happened late Sunday afternoon inside a home in New Hampshire.

On Monday, police said an 11-year-old girl was shot and killed at a Merrimack home. Police said no foul play was involved.

The medical examiner van pulled away from the home with the victim’s body inside Sunday evening. Merrimack detectives were at the home interviewing family members that were inside the house when the 9-1-1 call was made around 3 p.m. It appears the death may have been an accident.

It was an emotionally charged scene outside the family’s home early Sunday night while police investigated.

“The officers arrived and determined that this was going to become an unattended death investigation, which is what it currently is and that’s a situation where the person was not under the care of a physician and wasn’t expected to pass away and subsequently has so the police has to be involved,” said Captain Peter Albert of the Merrimack Police Department.

As word spread on Facebook throughout the day friends began showing up to the family’s home.
