REVERE, Mass. -- Surveillance cameras captured a thief breaking into storage units in Revere and thanks to at least a dozen tips from 7News viewers, Revere police say they have tracked down the suspect.

Police arrested 40-year-old Daniel Stimpson from Winthrop in connection with the break-ins.

Police say officers took the suspect into custody on Tuesday night at his home without incident. He faces eight counts of breaking and entering storage units at a facility on the Revere Beach Parkway.

During a 10-day period in January, cameras captured the man multiple times moving pallets filled with items at the Extra Space Storage on Revere Parkway. Video shows the suspect testing and breaking the locks on some of the doors. Police believe the suspect may have robbed as many as 79 units, sometimes returning several times in the say day.

One man who contacted 7News said his 50-inch plasma TV, surround sound system, car stereo and speakers were all taken from his unit.

Video shows the man wearing gloves to prevent fingerprints and hats or hoods to shield his identity from the camera. But police say he made a big mistake -- he didn’t hide himself from the cameras that were rolling at the parking entrance, so police have several clear shots of the man’s face.

"He absolutely felt comfortable as time when on and he started realizing also of the cameras around. Not so much at the beginning, but as he went on several days longer. 'Cause then he started - we noticed a difference; hood on, mask on, gloves on," said Detective Steven Pisano of the Revere Police Department.

Police say he used two vehicles, an older Ford Explorer and a newer Ford pickup truck in the thefts.

So far, police have only confirmed eight breaking and entering cases but the store management facility said there could be dozens more.

The suspect will be arraigned Wednesday morning in Chelsea District Court.
