DRACUT, Mass. (WHDH) -- A teenager was having her first driving lesson when she lost control of her vehicle and crashed into a neighbor’s house.

The girl, 16, was backing out of her driveway and slammed into the house across the street. At least seven young girls were inside the home at the time.

“A big boom, like it was an earthquake,” said a girl who was inside the home.

The homeowner also heard the crash.

“I heard the noise, ‘Boom,’ like a bomb or something like that. We had a look around inside the house and we didn’t see nothing happened. Then we step outside and see one car over here” said Mean Choun, homeowner.

The teen driver’s father told 7News that his wife was giving their daughter her first driving lesson when something went wrong. The wife suffered cuts and bruises but is expected to be fine. The 16-year-old was just shaken up.

The crash not only took out the corner of the neighbor’s foundation, but also took out the gas meter.

“I tried to take my kids from the house, go out and we smelled gas so badly,” Choun said.

Choun credited the quick response of police and firefighters.

No one was injured.
