METHUEN, Mass. (WHDH) -- Police are looking for the person behind a very pricey prank in Methuen. That person stole a Porsche and then decided to show it off.

The Porsche convertible was taken for a joy ride and the person who stole it, rubbed it in the face of the police. The expensive sports car was one of three high end cars stolen from a business in Salem, New Hampshire Thursday night.

Around 2 a.m., the Porsche 9-11 was driven to the Methuen Police Department where the driver did donuts in the parking lot. The Porsche returned around 4 a.m. to make more donuts, the second time an officer was nearby and tried to follow the sports car but the Porsche got away.

Not long after the chase Lawrence police got a call that someone had rolled a Porsche. The car was in bad shape but the driver was long gone.

With three cars stolen at once police suspect a large group was involved in the late night heist. A few feet away at the park-and-ride in Salem someone broke into eight parked cars around the same time.

“It’s very frustrating, you know I’ve been doing this for about three years, leaving my car here and this is the first time so it stinks,” said Noemi Vega, a car break in victim.

Salem police think the two crimes are related but no one has any idea why a car thief would risk it all to show off in a police station parking lot.

The other two cars that were stolen, a Mercedes Benz and a Land Rover, have not been recovered.

No arrests have been made but investigators are reviewing surveillance video.
