Rockport selectman under fire for comment

ROCKPORT, Mass. (WHDH) -- A Rockport selectman came under fire Thursday for a controversial comment.

Selectwoman Sarah Wilkinson says Sandy Jacques told her to "go back to the kitchen" during an argument.

The board of selectmen passed a motion saying the comment was unacceptable.

Jacques apologized for what he said, but the woman he was talking to doesn't believe he's completely sincere.

“It was a statement made in frustration and I apologized to Sarah and that’s all I have to say,” Jacques said.

“I'm not surprised there was no real apology because someone who would make those comments doesn't really understand what those comments mean,” Sarah Wilkinson said.

Selectwoman Wilkinson says she hopes the board can move on and that Selectman Jacques will treat people with more respect.
