Pedestrian killed in Lowell

LOWELL, Mass. (AP) -- Authorities are investigating the death of a pedestrian who was struck by an SUV in Lowell.

Police say the male victim was struck on High Street at about 9:30 p.m. Sunday.

Police tell The Sun that the pedestrian was transported to Saints Medical Center in Lowell where he was pronounced dead.

The female driver was stopped and was interviewed by police.

No names were immediately made public and there was no word on charges.

It was raining at the time of the accident.
