LYNN, Mass. (WHDH) -- A state trooper was struck in Lynn while attempting to stop an OUI driver Friday night.
The incident occurred on Boston Street around 9:30 p.m.
The OUI driver attempted to flee the scene which caused the trooper to jump out of the way. The trooper was then struck by a second vehicle.
The trooper was transported to Salem Hospital with upper and lower body injuries, according to Massachusetts State Police. They said he was alert and conscious while he was being transported.
Massachusetts State Police have identified the OUI driver as Nestor Mendez, 25, of Lynn.
The suspect has been arrested and charged with OUI, assault crimes, and traffic offenses.
