EVERETT, Mass. (WHDH) -- A State Trooper was injured after investigators say a motorcyclist hit the trooper’s car and struck a second car as the motorcyclist attempted to flee.

Police say the motorcyclist crashed into the State Trooper before taking off and hitting another car. Police say the 24-year-old Revere man rear ended a State Police cruiser just after midnight. Both were travelling on Route 1 in Revere.

The two pulled over and spoke before the motorcyclist abruptly sped away on his bike, smashing into the officer.

The trooper got in his car to follow him but he was gone. Then there was a second crash within minutes. The noise woke up a neighborhood.

“We just came outside, and everybody was outside and was watching,” said Renu Gill, a neighbor.

Police say the motorcyclist had hit another car on Union and Malden streets in Everett and suffered serious injuries.

The motorcyclist was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital, and now faces multiple charges including driving after his license was revoked, driving an unregistered car, and failing to stop for police.

The man also had another warrant out charging him for being a habitual traffic offender.

The State Trooper suffered minor injuries while the driver of the second car was not injured.
