MANCHESTER, N.H. (WHDH) -- A man has been accused of firing a gun into a 3-year-old's bedroom on Monday night. No one was hurt.
A bullet flew through the living room in a third floor apartment and landed in the wall where a 3-year-old was sleeping.
Police say Michael Root had been drinking and thought a gun was unloaded when he pulled the trigger.
“He unlocked it. He was playing with it and it fired,” Janelle Pann said.
Family friend and neighbor Janelle Pann says the 25-year-old was visiting his brother who lives at a Manchester apartment complex with his girlfriend and her 3-year-old daughter Monday night when horsing around almost put a child danger.
“That would have been really close, if he would have hit that little girl. It went right through the wall. It’s dangerous,” Pann said. “It ended up going kind of into the bedroom ceiling.”
The apartment complex on Old Wellington Road is home to many families and Janelle says she's just glad no one was hurt.
“It’s scary ‘cause there are a lot kids around here. I know Michael pretty well. I guess he just wasn’t thinking when he was playing with it. Didn’t think it was going to go off, but it did,” Pann said.
Police arrested Root for reckless conduct.
