BROWNVILLE, Maine (WHDH) -- One person was killed by flash floods in Brownville, Maine, early Sunday morning.
Police said the 29-year-old man died when he drove his car into a washed out section of road.
His car was then swept away in the flood waters.
The flooding was a result of yesterday's severe thunderstorms.
Brownville residents were startled by how quickly the floods came.
“And then we saw giant waterfalls coming down the side and on that side. It was just devastating. There was things floating down like a river,” said Mary Faye, a resident of Brownville.
Officials estimated road repairs will cost around 200-thousand dollars to repair.
In the meantime, officials asked people to avoid these roads in order to prevent any more accidents.
