METHUEN, Mass. (WHDH) -- A drive by in Methuen left a hail of bullets on the street and sent two sailing into a family’s home while they were inside early Monday morning.
Emmy Mei, 13, was still shaken Tuesday night.
“They just came through and I got scared,” Emmy Mei said.
The bullet was so powerful it went through a wall, a fiberglass shower stall, and into Emmy’s closet -- just a foot from where she was sitting Monday morning.
“I heard gunshots outside and then I heard a glass shattering, so that’s probably the bullet over there,” said Emmy Mei.
The bullet pierced a double-paned window and lodged itself into the wall of a guest room.
Joe Victor who lives next door in the duplex says it is a family oriented neighborhood so it's not only upsetting 11 bullets came flying through, but he's angry someone could open fire so senselessly.
“There’s some animals running around with semi-automatics,” said Joe Victor, neighbor.
Police have been investigating but say they have no motive and don't believe the family was targeted.
“We are looking into the possibility that it was a mistaken identity or that somebody shot at the house believing somebody else lived there,” said Lt. James Jajuga, Methuen Police Department.
It's little comfort for Emmy’s father. He came to America from China for a better life for his family and now says they live in fear.
“They’re scared now. It’s not safe even in the house,” Emmy’s father said.
