Haverhill police make arrest in double homicide

HAVERHILL, Mass. (AP) -- Police have arrested a man in connection with a quadruple shooting in Haverhill last week that left two people dead.
Authorities say 20-year-old Juan Carlos Sanchez was captured Sunday after jumping from a vehicle and leading several officers on a chase through some woods before attempting to escape in a separate car.
He is scheduled to be arraigned Monday on several charges, including two counts of murder.
The Eagle-Tribune reports that police also arrested the driver who allegedly tried to give Sanchez a ride after his flight from police.
Four people were shot July 23.
Authorities say 20-year-old Anndy Guzman of Lawrence and 19-year-old William Melchionda of Haverhill were killed.
Police have not disclosed a motive for the shootings.
