LAWRENCE, Mass. (WHDH) -- Police say a woman was tied up and robbed by three armed men inside her own home in Lawrence.
The woman told police they were looking for money and drugs. Investigators think they were after someone in a different home.
“They opened the door and I was in bed watching TV and I screamed,” the woman said.
The middle-aged mother was watching the Olympics before midnight Saturday when she heard a bang. The back door of her third-floor apartment was kicked open by three masked men with a gun. She tried to give them money.
“I got the money, I don’t know maybe $25 or $40 on the first try and then they say, ‘you have more?’ I was shaking,” the woman said.
But they tied her up.
“I was behind my bed and they tied me up. Just my hands over here, and then the other guy, they say tie the feet too,” the woman said.
And they knew what they were after.
“’I’m sorry lady, we’re just looking for drugs,’” the woman said. “And I say, ‘you have the wrong house, I never use drugs in my life’” the woman said.
“We believe they probably hit the wrong location,” said Chief John Romero, Lawrence Police Department.
Once the thieves figured that out, they took off 20 minutes later with two computers, the woman’s cell phone, and $120.
“And then I waited for 10 minutes and then I look to the other side and go out that door,” the woman said.
Police say they have not made any arrests.
