MSP investigating body found off Marblehead coast
BOSTON (WHDH) -- The following is a release from the Massachusetts State Police.
State Police Investigating Body Found Off the Coast Of Marblehead
Today, at 4:27 p.m., troopers assigned to the State Police Marine Unit, U.S. Coast Guard and the State Police Detective Unit for Essex County responded to a report of a body located in the ocean, 4 to 5 miles east of Marblehead Harbor.
At this time the identity of the victim is unknown. The victim was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Boston for further examination. State Police will not release the name of the victim until next of kin are notified.
The facts and circumstances remain under investigation by State Police Detectives from Essex County District Attorney’s Office with the assistance of the State Police Crime Scene Services Section, State Police Marine Unit, U.S. Coast Guard, and Swampscott Police Department.
