PORTSMOUTH, NH (WHDH) -- Police in New Hampshire said a car found in a parking lot is not connected to the disappearance of a young girl in Colorado.
Witnesses said a blue station wagon with Colorado license plates was parked behind a parking lot, so they called police. Police towed the car away Thursday morning.
Investigators said the car has nothing to do with the case of Jessica Ridgeway, who disappeared Oct. 5 while walking to school.
A nation-wide search has been underway since Jessica’s disappearance. Police in Colorado said they have ruled out Jessica’s parents as suspects.
Investigators said they believe Jessica was kidnapped by an unknown suspect.
On Wednesday police searched in Dexter, Maine after several people reported seeing a girl that matched Jessica’s description. Police also received reports about sightings in Harmony, Maine.
Authorities in Colorado found a body at a park on Wednesday about seven miles from where Jessica disappeared. Police are not answering any questions about the body and continued to search for Jessica on Thursday.
Police in Portsmouth are confident that the case has no connection to the car found.
