Congressman John Tierney's wife in car crash

BEVERLY, Mass. (WHDH) -- The wife of Congressman John Tierney is recovering this morning after a car crash.

Patrice Tierney was involved in a three-car accident yesterday.

She and her husband were seen leaving Beverly hospital in the afternoon.

The congressman's campaign reports a driver rear-ended his wife's car.

The accident happened in Danvers.

Police said another driver was also hurt.

Tierney’s campaign released a statement saying:

"It appears that having her seat belt on prevented her injuries from being far more serious. She and Congressman Tierney thank all who expressed their concern during the last few hours and appreciate the continued thoughts and prayers from friends, family and supporters.”
