LAWRENCE, Mass. (AP) -- A judge ordered a Lawrence man held without bail following a fatal shooting outside a house party in the city last weekend.

Authorities charged Ismael Calixto with murder and weapons offenses, and the 18-year-old appeared Tuesday in Lawrence District Court for an arraignment.

His lawyer couldn't be immediately reached for comment after court.

Police say the defendant shot 18-year-old Richard Bonilla of Lowell at about 1 a.m. Sunday.

Bonilla was flown to a Boston hospital, where he died of his injuries at about 4:30 p.m.

Police think gunfire erupted after a verbal altercation outside the party escalated.

A witness told police the argument started after three young women showed up but were denied access to the party.

The victim's death marked Lawrence's second homicide this year.
