Lowell man accused of stealing from parking kiosks

LOWELL, Mass. (AP) -- A Lowell man has been charged with stealing more than $37,000 in receipts from city parking kiosks while working for the company hired to manage the machines.

Richard Neveu was indicted Wednesday by a Middlesex grand jury on charges of larceny over $250 and breaking and entering into a depository.

An arraignment date was not scheduled.

Authorities say the 51-year-old Neveu worked as a parking kiosk technician for Central Parking System, when he allegedly stole money from the kiosks from 2009 until 2011, when Central Parking noticed discrepancies between what was collected by the kiosks and what was deposited in the bank. He was ultimately fired.

It was not clear of Neveu had hired a lawyer and he could not be reached for comment.
