ASHBY, Mass. (WHDH) -- It's safe to say there is rarely a quiet moment at the Baker household. They also have some extra blessings to be thankful for this Thanksgiving as their family joined them for dinner.
Meet Alex Baker: 19 months old and adopted just last Friday as part of National Adoption Day.
Alex has been a part of the family as a foster child since he was three days old, but this is his first official Thanksgiving as a Baker.
The toddler joins a full crew at the Baker's in Ashby.
Besides Alex, the couple also has two biological kids, two adopted and one foster child.
Lily is one of those adopted children, as well as Alex's half-biological sister.
“So when we found out he was born, and it was Lily's half brother, we decided to adopt him right away. It was just something we had to do,” said Mark Baker.
Helen and Mark Baker have been foster parents to more than a hundred children. They say keeping Alex was one of the best blessings they could have.
“When you're doing the foster care, you don't know if they're going to go home tomorrow, next week, so it's kind of like an up and down,” said Helen Baker.
“Today, it's just all about celebrating family,” Mark Baker said.
Celebrating family -- old and new -- good food, and a day of thanks.
