SAUGUS, Mass. (WHDH) -- A 1940's era car was damaged when a driver plowed into the garage where it was parked in Saugus Thursday.

A blue mustang managed to dodge the granite post at the top of the driveway along with two parked cars -- but it couldn't salvage the skid into a vintage car.

“He hit the stuff that was behind the car, hit the car, and shoved up against the cabinet over there,” said Vincent Memont, vintage car owner.

The gouged fender, the smashed headlight, the busted bumper; it may not seem like much damage, but it was once a pristine, fully restored, rare find.

“It's a 40 Plymouth business coupe, been worked over. It’s got a 69 44 Chrysler engine, five-speed transmission,” said Memont.

The driver told Saugus police he skidded out in the snow and slammed down the driveway. The crash sent neighbor Invi Carmine right over.

“He hit right in the front of it so that he couldn’t open his door so you had to climb out the window,” said Carmine.

For Vincent Memont, his parked prize has no price tag. But he knows what’s even more priceless is that no one was hurt.

“A vehicle can be fixed. The house can be fixed. Nobody got hurt. If it wasn’t insured I’d be ballistic,” Memont said.

The crash is under investigation and no ticket has been issued for the driver.
