Drivers take extra precaution on slippery roads

NEWTON, Mass. (WHDH) -- While most areas have been hit with a mix of snow and rain, Newton has mostly seen snow, leading to an accumulation of six inches.

Plow trucks have been out in full force and most drivers said they were pleased the roads stayed as clear as they could.

“It’s all about taking your time and driving carefully. You’re going to get there eventually,” said Pat Ford.

Holiday travelers were welcomed home with a bitter blast of winter.

“It’s better to drive when the conditions are better, but this is the day we have to get back,” said David Guberman.

The snow is creating a winter wonderland for those who can enjoy it from inside their home. But those on the road are taking extra precautions as plows try to keep up.
