Key witness testifies on 43-year-old Mass. slaying
WOBURN, Mass. (AP) -- A New Hampshire man says he and two other men charged with killing another teen more than 40 years ago abducted the boy as he walked home from a school dance because he had flirted with a girl.
Prosecutors say the three bound and gagged 15-year-old John McCabe of Tewksbury in 1969 and left him in a field where he suffocated.
On Friday, 61-year-old Edward Brown of Londonderry testified in the murder trial of 59-year-old Michael Ferreira of Salem, N.H.
Brown said he sat on McCabe's legs while Ferreira hogtied him. Brown said he thought his friends were only going scare McCabe, and they were shocked when they later found him dead.
Sixty-one-year-old Walter Shelley of Tewskbury is charged with murder. Brown, who went to authorities in 2011, is charged with manslaughter.
Ferreira's attorney disputes Brown's story.
