GLOUCESTER, Mass. -- Police in Gloucester are investigating after a male teenager was hit and killed by a commuter rail train.

Mike Grzybinski, 13, was hit Monday on the tracks at around 6:30 p.m. in the Babson Reservoir area of town by an MBTA commuter rail train traveling northbound toward Rockport.

The area where the accident occurred is not near a street crossing and is only accessible through trails in the woods or by walking up the tracks.

Police say they do not suspect foul play in this incident, adding that officers will strictly enforce no trespassing rules.

The section of track was closed, and the T was using buses to shuttle people north.

Grief counselors will be present at O’Maley Middle School on Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 a.m. until noon.

Grzybinski’s friends made a special Facebook page in his honor.

“The death of this young boy is hitting our community hard,” said Gloucester Mayor Carolyn Kirk.

State and local police are working with T investigators to figure out the details of the circumstances surrounding this incident.
