Pet store thief smashes fish tank

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WHDH) -- Police are looking for the man who broke into a pet store and appeared to purposely break a fish tank.
"He smashed the tank and the water is flowing out."
Bob Schenck shares this footage showing what seems to be a suspect breaking the glass on one of the fish tanks and letting the water flow out killing dozens of fish.
"For anyone to kill a living animal. They don't have a conscience,” said Schenck.
Schenck has no idea why his store was targeted, but is doing what he can to find the perpetrator.
"He finished the job. He was thorough. He went right to the end. He set out to do one particular thing to empty the water out of this system and kill everything living in the system,” he said.
The money lost, the property damaged, replaceable in the eyes of Schenck, but it's the disregard for the lives of living things that upsets him the most.
"His penalty has to be equivalent to him killing all of these living things. We'll get him. There's not a doubt in my mind. But he needs to pay about and beyond just vandalism and breaking in,” he said.
The vandalism is one of several break-ins that have happened on that street in the past few months. Only one fish survived the tank smashing. The robber has not been found.
