Firefighters find burning body at RI cemetery

CRANSTON, R.I. (AP) -- Cranston police have identified a Providence man in his 20s as the person whose body was found burning at a cemetery.

Col. Marco Palombo Jr. tells The Providence Journal that police are following several leads in a homicide investigation.

He did not release the man's identity, saying authorities were still working to notify his family.

Firefighters were called to the Pocasset Cemetery on Wednesday night for a brush fire. There, they discovered that the flames were coming from a dead body.

Palombo says authorities are still working to determine how the man died. An autopsy is pending.
