SCITUATE, Mass. (WHDH) -- People in Scituate were asked to stay away from the coast as the winter storm made a number of roads impassable on Friday.
Friday morning’s high tide covered roads in Scituate with the ocean. The water still hadn’t receded which brought more flooding to the area during Friday night’s high tide at about 8:30.
Residents said they were surprised the tide brought in so much water and that the water stayed. Some residents said the flooding is bad, but it was worse with the February blizzard.
“Those of us that are up high will fare quite well, If you’re down low, this is definitely going to be fairly staggering and violent,” said Doris Crary, a bed and breakfast owner.
Gas company workers shut off service to homes getting inundated with water.
Only about 80 customers lost power in the town Friday.
