Teen killed in 2-car crash in Lakeville
LAKEVILLE, Mass. (WHDH) -- A teenager was killed in a 2-car collision in Lakeville early Saturday morning and the driver of the other car is now facing charges.
The victim, an 18-year-old woman, was home from college to celebrate Easter with her family when she was killed in the crash.
“She was very sweet, very caring. She didn’t judge anybody. She saw the good in everybody. She saw the good in everything,” said Erica Jungwirth, friend of the victim.
Friends are lighting candles and leaving notes along the Lakeville Road where the two cars collided and then rolled over around 2 a.m. Saturday.
“It breaks our hearts to see this. She was a really good friend of ours,” said Kerri-Anne Harlow.
“Hopefully it'll be a big eye opener to be a little more cautious. Cause there's really good people out there. Stuff like this does happen but it shouldn't,” said Sydney Ribeiro.
The driver of the pickup is a 23-year-old Middleboro woman, who now faces charges including motor vehicle homicide and driving under the influence. F
Friends of the young victim say they're only left with questions.
“Monica was all around nice girl. She had goals. She loved God. She loved people. She didn't deserve this,” said Melissa Durand.
Police said a passenger in the pickup truck was injured and taken to the hospital. There’s no word on the extent of her injuries.
