Neighbors remodel home for grandma raising 2 boys
WAREHAM, Mass. (WHDH) -- For Cindy Jeffers, it was a moment she'll never forget.
Cindy Jeffers homeowner 11:13 this is an incredible thing in my life
Her neighbors and some local companies came together to remodel her Wareham home -- all to make her job of looking after her two grandsons a little easier.
“I thank everyone. I mean I can’t imagine how they pulled this off. It was a great effort by a lot of really wonderful people, and my two neighbors Charlie and Paula who are like my family,” said Jeffers.
Her grandson, Jeremiah, has cerebral palsy; he can’t speak or walk. These upgrades to their home will now make her life so much easier.
“Jeremiah has brought a lot of good to my life and made me a better person. You have a child like Jeremiah and you realize the purpose you have in this world,” said Jeffers.
The volunteers sent Cindy and the kids to Hyannis for a week, and in that time, a new home was built out of sweat, love and dedication.
“It’s been an amazing week for all of us,” said Victor Fernandes, Jeremiah’s Project.
A grandmother who has been through so much now has a new home to continue her job of raising two boys.
“The way it’s done is perfect. It’s like they were living my life. They knew everything I was going through,” said Jeffers.
Organizers are still collecting donations for the construction project and to buy a special van for the family.
