Pats' Hernandez questioned after body found
NORTH ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WHDH) -- More than a dozen State Police investigators swarmed the home of New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez.
Sports Illustrated reported they had already questioned Hernandez in connection with a possible murder investigation.
The Bristol County D.A. confirmed a body was found late Monday at an undeveloped area less than a mile from Hernandez’s home.
Neighbors were shocked.
“I’m stunned, I guess, and little surprised this would happen in our area,” said one neighbor.
Onlookers watched as police walked out of the home with several items, including a computer. Two men who had been at Hernandez’s home and talked to police outside were led away from the scene by investigators. A courier who delivered a package for Hernandez described the scene inside.
“Just a lot of police and that’s about it…kind of quiet,” said the courier.
Sports Illustrated reported Hernandez is not a suspect but a vehicle rented in the Patriots star’s name is emerging as a key piece of evidence in the murder investigation.
“I think he’s a great player, I think the kids look up to him. I hope he’s not involved in this in any way,” said one neighbor.
Investigators continued to take pictures into the night inside the home, in the driveway and in the garage.
The Patriots delivered a statement of sorts. They said they’re aware what’s going on but they’re not going to have anything to say while the police continue their investigation.
