9-year-old dies after tragic car accident
COHASSET, Mass. (WHDH) -- A tragic car accident on Sunday claimed the life of a 9-year-old boy.
“He was just the greatest little boy,” said Ken Cook, a neighbor who watched him grow up.
The Gold family was getting ready to take an annual vacation to Maine when a car spun out of control and hit them on a pier. Dylan Gold was killed.
“It’s tragedy anytime a life is lost, but to have a nine-year-old is pretty difficult,” said Chief Deputy Tim Carroll of the Knox County Sheriff’s Department.
The cause of the crash is still unknown. The 61-year-old driver from New York walked away unharmed.
“This was total mayhem and the car came and spun another car around,” said a witness.
The Dylan's younger brother and mother were sent to the hospital.
“She’s hurt pretty badly. She had broken bones in her pelvis area and she was undergoing surgery this morning,” said Cook.
It was an unimaginable loss for the Cohasset community and for the neighbors who have grown close to the Gold’s.
“It’s tough, it’s tough, but you make it through these things. And we’re going to miss Dylan,” said Cook.
Dylan’s 6-year-old brother is in stable condition and is expected to make a full recovery.
There is no word if the driver will be facing any charges.
