Crews search for missing swimmer at Walden Pond
CONCORD, Mass. (WHDH) -- Search crews were at Walden Pond Monday morning looking for a swimmer who disappeared on Sunday.
Police said a 63-year-old man from Lincoln went swimming but he never surfaced. His wife said he told her he was going to attempt to swim across the pond. She said she doesn't know what happened to him.
It was unclear if he got into trouble in the water and went under or if he got out of the water and was lost in the woods.
Divers were in the water as helicopters and K-9s tracked for the man’s scent through the woods.
The search was suspended Sunday night but crews resumed the search Monday morning. Dense fog in the morning made things more difficult for the search teams.
According to the Massachusetts State Police two boats went into the water with divers and side scan sonar on Monday. There were also four mounted teams searching the shore.
The search lasted for 6 hours on Monday before being suspended. Crews are expected to be back to work Tuesday morning.
