STORRS, Conn. -- Women at the University of Connecticut are finding nothing funny about two comics in the college newspaper.

The first gives a negative spin to the old nursery rhyme about what little girls are made of.

The second suggests women will trade sex for a diamond ring.

Students wrote letters to the editor, expressing their outrage and attacking the comics as distasteful and demeaning.

"The first comic was just a general sexist remark, and the second one, it was sexist, perpetrating a negative stereotype about women,” said UConn junior Tess Koenigsmark.

At first, the paper claimed First Amendment rights.

Now, they're amending policies on what can be published.
