Former student threatens to blow up Stonehill College

EASTON, Mass. -- A former Stonehill College student is accused of threatening to blow up the school, and prosecutors say he planned even more violence.
The angry string of texts was sent to a female student last Friday with an explosive threat, according to authorities.
One text message stated: “Yea do me a favor. Be at Stonehill the day I blow it up…”
Another stated: “It’s not hard to get on campus and do what I need to do.”
“We take any such act against the campus, against the faculty, the administrators or the students - we take it all serious,” said Peter Carns, campus police.
Federal officials say 23-year-old Sterlynn Robbins of Connecticut also threatened to kill two staff members. And according to a criminal complaint, he texted: “The school already stripped me of everything. I don’t [expletive] care I was already arrested once. I don’t even care if they do kill me in my attempt. At least my pathetic life will be over.”
The college says Robbins was permanently dismissed from Stonehill in 2009 after being arrested on assault charges by the Stonehill Police Department.
Students who knew him say he often seemed angry.
“He did fight with his girlfriend a lot,” said one student.
“He is not the type who would think anything of making these threats, so when I heard about the fact that he made these threats it didn’t surprise me the slightest bit,” said Christopher Grant, student. “It seems strange to me that he would make these threats now as opposed to either last year or when he was kicked out.”
If the suspect is convicted he could face up to five years in federal prison and a quarter million dollars in fines. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday.
