Car barrels into house, antique car in Weymouth

WEYMOUTH, Mass. -- A car made a crashing entrance into a home in Weymouth, Sunday, crossing four lanes of traffic, hitting a pole, and crushing an antique car -- all while in reverse.
It happened on Route 3 in Weymouth.
Phil Drummy, the house’s owner, said he was inside at the time and the bumper landed just three feet away from him.
“I do feel lucky, I’m going to go play the lottery right now,” he said.
Weymouth firefighters said the driver was southbound on 3A when he hit a pole. The car then reversed across four lanes of traffic and went airborne into the window, also crushing another car and a motorcycle parked near the home.
“It’s an absolute miracle on a Sunday afternoon that nobody was seriously hurt,” Deputy Chief John Haslam with the Weymouth Fire Department said.
“He said he blacked out,” one witness said. “He had to have, because he was at high speeds, so he had to have blacked out because there was no braking.”
“He said he was sorry, he didn’t mean to do it, and he said he got a new car and it had something to do with having a new car,” Drummy said.
The driver was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. Police were still investigating what caused him to lose control of the car.
