Baldwin saves Central Falls library

CENTRAL FALLS, RI -- Actor Alec Baldwin heard about Central Falls’ bankruptcy and decided to make a donation to the local library to help.
The actor decided to donate $10,000 to keep the library open.
Baldwin spent time in the Ocean State before. He starred in the 1999 film “Outside Providence.” Since then he has had success on the hit show 30 Rock on NBC.
The news of Central Falls’ financial crisis landed in the New York Times a few days ago, including mention of the fight to keep the library open.
People in Central Falls said the news of the donation is just what the city could use.
“Not so much Rhode Island but anywhere in the United States, you know people have to care about the kids in our neighborhoods,” a resident said when asked if he thought it was good that a non-resident was taking so much interest in a local cause.
If Alec Baldwin was listening one resident said, “Thank you Alec Baldwin. You the man.”
It is not clear when the library will receive that $10,000 donation but it is expected very soon.
