Wedding reception turns violent in Braintree

BRAINTREE -- There's been a lot of wedding talk in recent days because of the Kim Kardashian saga that played out in Hollywood. A real life drama that played out at a wedding party in Braintree may put that story to shame.

A weekend wedding at the DAV Hall in Braintree went from exchanging vows to exchanging blows.

“There’s a big fight about eight to ten males hitting each other with bottles…send and ambulance too please,” said someone in a 911 call.

Braintree police said a woman at the wedding was arguing with another guest. It got heated, and when he threw a punch at her, her boyfriend, who was a groomsman jumped in. That's when police said the groom’s brother hit the woman's boyfriend with a beer bottle.

All this happened at a time when police resources were stretched thin from accidents and downed wires from the weekend snow storm.

“I'm sure it was a night to remember when all was said and done,” said an officer.

Police are not releasing the names of anyone involved in this fight because they said charges are pending against the guy with the bottle - he could be charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
