DEDHAM, Mass. -- The final countdown was on Friday for all the last-minute Christmas shoppers who hoped to score big on deals.

Local stores stayed busy with procrastinators Friday night.

The countdown to Christmas was on, and 'tis the season to get shopping if you haven't already and there were only hours left on Friday evening.

For those really cutting it close, Toys ‘r’ Us is open 24 hours up until Christmas eve night, and plenty took full advantage.

“I have four kids so I have to shop for the four kids and my mother-in-law, my nieces and nephews and sisters-in-law,” said Magda Stadelmann.

Keith and Julie Hannon say every year they leave something to the last minute…

“We’re not starting tonight but it never stops,” said Julie Hannon.

Burlington to Brockton, malls were buzzing and parking lots were packed.

Santa even had some last minute requests. So whether your list is long or short, some said procrastination does have its advantages.

The Toys ‘r’ Us doors in Dedham don’t close until 10:00 p.m. on Saturday night.
