QUINCY, Mass. -- Sunday Patriots fans are hoping to have the sweet taste of victory but one local bakery is making sure that fans have that taste either way.
Ginger Betty’s bakery made a complete replica of Gillette Stadium in gingerbread cookies, including Patriots players and Giants players on the field made of green icing.
Ginger Betty’s has individually wrapped Patriots cookies for customers to bring home and share with friends during Super Bowl XLVI.
“We just figured we’d have fun and we’d show the Patriots, the Giants and you know, some of the cheerleaders and some of the fans in the back. We did it all in one day so the pressure was on,” said Beth Veneto, owner of Ginger Betty’s.
The replica was made for an expo for the Quincy Chamber of Commerce.
“We kind of came up with the idea about team players, teamwork and things like that because through the chamber we’re trying to do business to business,” said Veneto.
As for the little Patriots and Giants players, they are all made right inside Ginger Betty’s.
“It’s all hand cut, hand decorated. It’s pretty much a process, we’ll cut the cookies first and then we do something that’s called the color flow, you can see how the shirts are on there, so we have to outline them, color flow them with frosting and let those dry and then do the writing,” said Veneto.
Customers said they can’t get enough of the frosted treats.
“We always come here when there is something special going on. We buy all of our special treats from here, we’re going to give some to the grandchildren next door and our grandchildren and we’re meeting a friend for lunch and giving her some for her family too,” said Paula Nisula, a customer.
Ginger Betty’s owner admits the bakery is home team biased.
“People come in and ask for the Giants and we will make whatever you want but we are with the Patriots for sure,” said Veneto.
