Snow causing slippery roads, accidents in Conn.
HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) -- An early morning snowstorm caused accidents across the state and prompted numerous school delays.
State transportation officials say a tractor-trailer accident shut down both sides of Interstate 95 in East Lyme shortly before 5:30 a.m. Friday. The DOT says the northbound lanes have reopened, but the right southbound lane remains closed.
Weather forecasters report 3 to 6 inches of snowfall. State police say they responded to accidents on nearly every highway they patrol and urged motorists to slow down.
The state Department of Transportation sent out 500 plow trucks to clear the roads.
The snow tapered off later in the morning.
