Norwell man gets 7 years for running down 4 teens
BROCKTON, Mass. (AP) -- A Norwell man who struck three teenage girls and a teen boy with his minivan has been sentenced to up to seven years in prison.
Nathan Delaplain-Zook pleaded guilty Thursday in Brockton Superior Court to charges including four counts of attempted murder for driving into the teens in Rockland in May 2010.
Prosecutors say a group of youths had gathered in a parking lot to watch a fight. Delaplain-Zook, an 18-year-old Norwell High senior at the time, drove into the teens after someone threw something at his van.
The girls, ages 14, 15 and 16, suffered serious injuries, including broken bones.
The Patriot Ledger reports Delaplain-Zook told a judge he felt "awful." His lawyer said he was not taking medication to treat a mental health condition at the time.
