NORWOOD, Mass. (WHDH) -- Two pedestrians were rushed to the hospital Thursday night after they were struck by a car in Norwood.

The two were struck shortly after 11 p.m. Thursday at Washington and Mount Vernon streets.

One of the victims, a woman, is said to have suffered life-threatening injuries. She was reportedly thrown quite a distance by the impact.

The other victim, a man, was conscious following the accident.

The male driver, in a maroon sedan, did stop and cooperate with police. He was not charged at the scene, but police said he may still be charged at some point in the future.

It was not immediate clear whether the pedestrians were in a crosswalk or if speeding was involved. An investigation was under way Friday morning.
