DA: Hopkinton man kills wife, self

HOPKINTON, Mass. (WHDH) -- The Middlesex District Attorney’s office is investigating after a man and woman were found dead inside a Hopkinton home on Monday morning.
Police say the couple died from gunshot wounds.
On Monday afternoon, investigators announced that the deaths were a result of a murder-suicide.
“It’s a shock to me because they’re just real good people,” one man said.
Stunned neighbors and friends looked on as investigators scoured the crime scene at 141 Hayward Street.
Crime scene investigators say 40-year-old Laurie Levangie was shot and killed by her husband, 43-year-old Todd Vogle. Vogle then took his own life.
The couple had recently married. They had no children.
“We found the two decedents, and we found obvious evidence of the gunshot wounds. We found the murder weapon,” said Gerry Leone, Middlesex District Attorney.
The district attorney Todd Vogle’s co-worker stopped by Vogle’s house Monday morning to pick him up, and discovered the bodies.
“Never seemed angry, just always had a nice smile on his face. Just like you and I, just regular people,” said Steven Votolato, a neighbor.
The police chief says they responded to the address for disturbance calls in the past, but nothing related to domestic violence.
“This is a nice little neighborhood here and everybody’s pretty tight-knit. You can’t go down the street without waving hello, something to someone,” said Maureen Hart, a neighbor.
The district attorney said the motive remains under investigation.
