Car crashes into Attleboro home trapping driver

ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WHDH) -- A car crashed into an Attleboro home on Monday, trapping the 70-year-old driver inside the vehicle.
Bystanders smashed the car’s window and were able to rescue the woman from fumes that were filling the vehicle.
“Shook the house, I said, ‘Oh, no, what was that? Did the tree fall down? Or a branch fell down? Or something like that,’” said Michael Maguire, homeowner.
Maguire tried to help the woman trapped inside the car.
“It was filled with smoke. The kid that was with her gave me a small hammer and I hit the window as hard as I could. All the doors were locked, so I couldn’t open the door. So I hit the rear window as hard as I could. I couldn’t break the window,” Maguire said.
Construction workers across the street rushed over with a crow bar.
“They smashed the back window out. Not the back windshield, the back window. We popped the locks, opened the window, opened the doors, like that, and all the smoke came out,” Maguire said.
The accident left behind a busted railing, door, and siding.
“She bounced off my house like a cannonball off the old Ironsides. This is a historical home in Attleboro and they don’t make them like this anymore,” Maguire said.
The woman was taken to a hospital. Her condition is unknown.
