Standoff ends peacefully in Franklin
FRANKLIN, Mass. (WHDH) -- An hours-long standoff in Franklin, which started when a man barricaded himself in his home, ended peacefully Monday night. It ended around 11 p.m. Monday.
Police departments from a number of towns and a regional swat team surrounded the house on Lewis Street.
Some residents were evacuated from their homes.
"We were in our house just watching TV and an officer walked up to our house and just knocked on our door,” neighbor Andrew Rock said. “He had like an automatic rifle in his hand. He said that we had to leave immediately and get in our car and go far away."
Neighbors were allowed back into their houses around 11 p.m.
Police have not said why the man barricaded himself in his house.
