PLYMOUTH, Mass. (WHDH) -- Three men were on Plymouth Bay fishing when they heard frantic cries for help -- a boat had capsized and two people were thrown into the water.
“You could just vaguely hear his voice. We could just make out ‘Help, help….Go to land, get help,’” said Dustin Soule, who rescued the victims.
Authorities said the boat a man and a woman were in sunk. Soule said they found the man on a sandbar and nearby the woman was clinging to a buoy.
“We went over to the girl -- she was like, ‘I can’t swim, I can’t swim,’” Soule said. “Her eyes were starting to roll back into her head, like she was real white.”
They pulled her onto the boat and called 911. Soule said they also pulled the man onto the boat.
“He was hugging her. Kept, like, kept his arm around her. You know. He was pretty shaken up, too, and she was just shaking so bad, too. We honestly didn’t know if she was going to make it,” said Soule.
Soule said he was amazed that the woman was able to hold onto the buoy with the strong current in the bay.
