BROCKTON, Mass. (WHDH) -- Police are investigating the death of a three-month-old boy in Brockton.
Brockton police say they were called to the home on Winthrop Street Thursday afternoon where the infant was found not breathing. The baby was taken to the hospital where he later died.
Brockton police along with investigators from the Plymouth District Attorney’s office were on scene removing bags of evidence.
The baby’s aunt said around 1 p.m. she saw her brother and sister-in-law in a panic. The parents told the aunt that the baby was not breathing correctly so they called 911.
Friends say they are in shock.
"They're good people. They love kids. They would never do anything to harm a child," said Crystal Cook, a family friend.
"If anything happened to a child, it was definitely by accident," one man said.
The infants aunt says the mother and father are a wonderful young couple and were excited about having their first child.
"Wonderful parents. Loved their son more than anything in the world and he'll be dearly missed by all of us," the aunt said.
The district attorney's office along with the Department of Children and Family Services are investigating.
