Rhode Island teen accused of hitting car with bat

UNDATED (WHDH) -- A 17-year-old from Rhode Island is accused of a bat attack. The teen was caught hitting a car with a bat just as the driver was pulling away.
Police say he then confronted another person who tried to calm him down.
An officer arrived and says he became the next target.
"I got out of the car, and the subject immediately focused on me swinging the bat wildly, basically telling me to shoot him," said Sergeant Mark Canning, Warwick, Rhode Island Police Department. "Began picking up pieces of loose asphalt and then throwing them at my cruiser, hit the hood and ricocheted off the front windshield."
The teenager allegedly threatened police with a gun but officers say they never saw a weapon.
The teen was eventually arrested.
