FALL RIVER (WHDH) -- A toddler in Fall River was in the hospital Wednesday morning after falling from a third-story window on East Main Street.
Family members said the 2-year-old girl was home with her parents when the toddler fell out of a living room window when the girl’s mother went to get something out of a bedroom. They said the screens were just installed.
"When he was over here trying to pick her up, she and I were like, 'Please don't touch her, just leave her alone.’ We got blankets, put blankets on her and luckily the ambulance arrived," one witness said. "It was terrible, she was unresponsive, wasn't moving and she was bleeding from the ears."
The girl was rushed to Hasbro Children's Hospital in Providence with a severe head injury. She remains in the intensive care unit in critical condition, but she is stable, according to family members.
Police are still investigating the incident. Investigators spent time in the apartment, measuring the distance to the ground.
