Man arrested in RI after escaping jail 3 decades ago

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- Rhode Island police have arrested a man they say escaped from a South Carolina prison facility on Christmas Day nearly 32 years ago.

State police said that authorities are taking 65-year-old Armin Christian back to South Carolina.

He was arraigned in District Court in Providence on Wednesday.

Christian had been living in Bristol. He was arrested and charged with escaping a correctional facility.
