BARRINGTON, R.I. (WHDH) -- A Rhode Island man is speaking out after he says a local town official ruined his day at the beach.

Michael LeRoux says he was building a sandcastle in Barrington with his seven-year-old daughter on Saturday.

He says he was shocked when the town's recreation director demanded that he take down their castle due to it being a supposed safety hazard.

"So I just, I basically asked him a very simple question: do you have nothing better to do than to harangue families on the beach building a sandcastle,” LeRoux said.

The town recreation director says Taylor was using wood to build the sandcastle, and after tearing the castle down, nails were found in the wood.
